Community Guidelines

Catalysis is a space for personal and group growth, structured journeys, and genuine community. These guidelines help us keep the platform safe and welcoming for everyone — across faiths, programs, and goals.

Our Commitment to Respect

We serve people across faiths, programs, and personal goals. We focus on what unites anyone trying to grow — honesty, accountability, encouragement, and the courage to keep showing up — rather than the things that divide us. Faith communities are a first-class use case here, and so are recovery groups, leadership cohorts, wellness programs, and personal goals. Every member is welcome and every member deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

What We Encourage

  • Genuine encouragement — Build others up. Share your wins and your struggles. Celebrate progress with each other.
  • Honest, respectful dialogue — Ask questions, share perspectives, and engage with humility and a genuine desire to learn.
  • Vulnerability and authenticity — Share your struggles, prayer requests, or whatever you're working through. This is a safe space to be real.
  • Cross-tradition fellowship — Engage with people from different faiths, programs, and walks of life. You'll find more in common than you expect.
  • Accountability with grace — Hold each other accountable in love, not judgement. We're all works in progress.
  • Reporting concerns — If you see something that doesn't belong, report it. You help us keep this community healthy.

What Is Not Allowed

  • Divisive attacks on traditions or beliefs — Criticising, belittling, or attacking other denominations, traditions, programs, or belief systems. You may share your own beliefs; you may not tear down others'.
  • Disrespecting members' beliefs — Content that mocks, ridicules, or undermines any member's faith, lack of faith, or sincerely-held convictions. This includes ridicule of Christianity, other religions, or non-religious worldviews.
  • Controversial or inflammatory content — Content designed to provoke outrage, create division, or generate controversy. This includes doctrinal clickbait, politically charged religious commentary, and sensationalist claims.
  • Harassment, bullying, or personal attacks — Targeting individuals with insults, threats, persistent unwanted contact, or demeaning language.
  • Hate speech and discrimination — Content that promotes hatred or discrimination based on ethnicity, nationality, gender, religion, sexuality, or any other characteristic. Every person deserves dignity here.
  • Misleading content presented as established truth — Presenting personal interpretations, fringe doctrines, or unverified claims as universally accepted in a way that misleads other members. This applies to faith content, health claims, recovery advice, financial guidance, and any other domain.
  • Spam, self-promotion, and solicitation — Unsolicited advertising, fundraising (outside official platform channels), or repeated promotion of personal ministries, products, or services.
  • Sexually explicit or violent content — Any content that is pornographic, gratuitously violent, or otherwise inappropriate for a faith-based community.
  • Impersonation or deception — Pretending to be someone you're not, including fake testimonies or fabricated spiritual experiences.

How We Moderate

We use a combination of community reporting, automated detection, and human review to maintain a healthy environment. Our moderation team reviews reported content with care and context, understanding that faith conversations can be nuanced.

Our process:

  1. Any user can report content or behaviour that violates these guidelines
  2. Our moderation team reviews reports within 48 hours
  3. We assess content in context — tone, intent, and impact are all considered
  4. We take proportionate action based on severity and pattern of behaviour

Enforcement & Consequences

We take a progressive approach to enforcement, but reserve the right to take immediate action for serious violations.

Warning

First-time or minor violations receive a private warning with explanation of the guideline breached.

Content Removal

Content that violates guidelines will be removed. The author is notified with the specific reason.

Shadow Ban

Repeated or pattern violations may result in reduced visibility of content without notification to the user.

Permanent Ban

Severe violations or persistent patterns of harmful behaviour will result in permanent account termination.

Immediate Ban Offences

The following may result in immediate permanent ban without prior warning: publishing content that creates widespread harm to the community, deliberate disrespect or hate speech toward any member's beliefs or background, predatory behaviour targeting vulnerable members, sharing sexually explicit content, or any illegal activity.

Catalysis reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to shadow ban, temporarily suspend, or permanently ban any user who publishes content or uses the platform in ways that are harmful, discriminatory, deceptive, or otherwise detrimental to the health and safety of the community. This includes content that may not explicitly violate a specific guideline above but is determined to be detrimental to the spirit of this community.

Appeals

If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you may appeal by contacting us at support@catalysisapp.com. Please include the content in question and your reasoning. We will review all appeals and respond within 7 business days. Our decision on appeal is final.

Building This Community Together

These guidelines exist to protect and empower every member. When we each take responsibility for the health of this community, we create something beautiful — a space where believers can truly grow together.
